SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Jim Carlin, the conservative Republican candidate running for U.S. Senate in Iowa, announced on Thursday the endorsement of Iowa state Sen. Doug Campbell, R-District 30, joining state Senator Sandy Salmon in supporting Carlin’s 2026 campaign for Iowa’s open U.S. Senate seat.
Ernst announced on Tuesday that she will not seek re-election after two terms.
Campbell, a respected voice in the Iowa Senate, emphasized the historic significance of the election and Carlin’s unique qualifications.
“Few times in your life will you get the chance to change and make history. This is an election cycle that will go down in history and for generations to come. Jim Carlin stepped up before our incumbent Senator stepped out,” Campbell said. “Jim has vision for the future that no other candidate has demonstrated. In the endorsement, Campbell also highlighted Carlin’s deep understanding of Constitutional principles.
