“I am writing to give a strong endorsement for State Senator Jim Carlin in the upcoming U.S. Senate Primary race.
As a nation we face new challenges that have cropped up just in the past few years, particularly to our constitutional rights as well as in domestic and foreign policy, that I believe require new leadership that will put America First.
Jim Carlin is an outstanding choice for the new leader we need for the new challenges America faces. An Army veteran and plaintiff’s attorney, he is a freedom fighter, a people protector, a problem-solver, and a corruption destroyer.
He believes in America, in our ideals of freedom, protection of individual rights, and limited government. Jim’s Christian faith is important to him and he wants his family, his children and grandchildren, to be able to enjoy the freedoms and the rights he has enjoyed by being blessed to live in America.
I served with Sen. Carlin when he was in the Iowa House and then we worked together on veterans’ issues when he was elected to the Iowa Senate and served as chair of the Senate Veterans Committee and I was chair of the House Veterans Committee.
An out-of-the-box problem-solver, Sen. Carlin was the author of the veterans’ bill, now signed by the governor, that changed the investment strategy of the Veterans Trust Fund to help generate more funding for veterans’ services.
He led the fight in the Iowa Senate for taxpayer protection for seniors against property tax increases.
He led the fight in the Iowa Senate against human trafficking with a proposal to investigate ways to combat this crime.
He led the fight for protection for the right to life of the unborn in the Iowa Senate in 2018, being one of 4 senators that played a significant role to help bring the Heartbeat bill to the floor in the Iowa House. It became law and set off an avalanche of heartbeat bills across the states, building up the pressure on the U.S. Supreme Court to reverse Roe vs. Wade, which it did in 2022.
He led the fight in the Iowa Senate for medical freedom, your 4th Amendment constitutional rights, with a bill to prohibit vaccine mandates by employers, before the issue became a crisis in our state.
He led the fight in the Iowa Senate for the protection of children in our schools against the indoctrination and promotion of sexual orientation and gender identity confusion. Sen. Carlin would not have voted for the “Dis”-Respect for Marriage Act, which strengthened LGBT confusion as Sen. Ernst did.
He led the fight for school choice to provide families an alternative in education because he understood that each child is unique and that one size does not fit all.
He has fought alongside others in the Iowa legislature for our 1st Amendment freedom of religion and freedom of speech and for our 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms. Sen. Carlin would not incentivize states to adopt red flag laws, as Sen. Ernst did.
He led the fight in the Iowa House, which included standing up to leadership, to protect our 7th Amendment constitutional right to a jury trial.
I believe that we reached a watershed moment as a nation when Congress did not step up to investigate the numerous egregious irregularities in the 2020 election before certifying the results. Only about 10 senators supported an investigation and Sen. Ernst was not one of them. Sen. Carlin would have voted to investigate the 2020 election.
As a plaintiff’s attorney, Jim Carlin developed a nose to sniff out corruption and find out the truth. That is what we so desperately need in government.
And Jim has the heart to care for and protect people as well as the courage and strength to fight for them.
I believe the time is now for a change in our U.S. Senator!
